Chapter 28

The bizarre time-travel adventure continues with, gosh let’s see, a wedding, a wedding night, a war, and a beheading (well, many); and lots of other stuff always happens in this wild-cat plot arc. We’ll stay in the Sixteenth Century for now and go from there.

Our anti-hero is swept up in a global conflict that he neither knows anything about, doesn’t have any connection to and lives several centuries after the fact of the aggression, which had everything to do with religion and empire (both of which he has lived his entire life wholly ignorant of). Yet here he is, again asked, nay, commanded to serve in various capacities; his labor, his physical body, even his own life (and all those of the many many others) are demanded of him, again and again.
